I’ve been interested in the language for a long time, and recently decided to learn what of it I can from listening to websites such as octele.com, Ràdio País, and the podcasts of Domenja Lekuona. I’ve also been looking for books, but they’re basically either in French (limited by my rusty high school French), or deal with Old Occitan (Paden) or a single dialect (J. D. Craig, mid-1800’s Provence). It’s very inte전주출장샵resting to hear what the locals make of an American interested in the language! I would have expected the mix of gratitude and “Why bother?” but would not expect the question about endangered American languages. There’s no possibility of my traveling to Occitania anytime soon, but I hope to find some kind of study or conversation group in France that I could participate in via Skype or something similar.
